Fabulous @ 50

On May 7th 2006, 150 Fabulous at 50 women made their début at The St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation’s 7th Annual Run/Spin/Walk for the General. With cancer the leading cause of premature death in Niagara, the decision to support the hospital’s Oncology Department was a natural choice. Women all over the Niagara Region came out to support this wonderful cause. The Fabulous at 50 raised over $46,000 of their 50,000 goal.

Today this dedicated group continues to exercise creativity by expanding their fundraising efforts. Proceeds from 2007 will be directed toward Mental Health and Intensive Care Units at the St. Catharines General Hospital.

In 2006 the Fabulous at 50 group organized an extremely successful Holiday House Tour of Distinctive Homes in Wine Country. The Holiday House Tour featured six breathtaking homes in beautiful Jordan, Ontario. Along the route our guests were invited to stop at two of Niagara’s signature wineries for tasting. Participating homes and wineries were decorated by professional florists and decorators in Niagara. We are proud to announce that over 800 tickets were sold and an impressive $24,000 raised during the first annual Holiday House Tour.

Our ever growing group of over 150 accomplished women consists of mothers, wives, volunteers, professionals and survivors but most of all; our common goal is dedication to helping our local hospital with a mix of sassy-ness and class.

The 2nd Annual Speaker Series was held on January 22, 2007. With 350 people in attendance, this sold out evening raised over $3500 toward Mental Health and the Intensive Care Unit.

The 8th Annual Run for the General took place on Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Club Roma in St. Catharines. Once again, this inspirational group of women took a leadership role for healthcare in our community by raising almost $20,000 for the St. Catharines General Hospital Site.
